I like to share some of what happens behind the scenes as I write my Mary Magdalene metaphysical fantasy work in progress (WIP).
Today I tell a story that ties together two events which indicate that I'm on the "write" track.
I'd love to read any comments you have.

Q. Does your book have a setting in North or South America?
A. My current WIP takes place in both areas. There are legends in the oral traditions of Native Americans which suggest Jesus travelled and taught in North, Central and South America. I have taken this seed and used it to develop part two of my metaphysical fantasy book in progress.
My main characters (MC) travel to the Maya Lands and what is now northwestern New York state in pre-Columbian times. The two MCs also time travel to the area which is now Peru, South America They arrive during the peak of the Inca Empire. Here's an excerpt from my very rough first draft to give you a taste of the Inca scenes.
"Well, then, here’s something else. I think we should meet with the Sapa Inca soon, Jeshua said. We need to have him on our side."
Mary agreed “We also need to meditate and see how we are guided with respect to warning the Inca ruler about the Spanish arrival,” she added. Although he won't be alive to see that, he can begin to prepare his military for the Spanish conquistadors
The next morning Jeshua asked Urpi to pave the way for them to meet with the Sapa Inca as soon as possible. They would need permission to be on the road and would have to check in at the waystations called chaskiwasi and the larger, more luxurious complexes (tambos) dotted along every 20 km or so, where travelers could spend the night and refresh.
It turned out that the Sapa Inca, whose name was Tupac Yupanqui happened to be on the nearby Island of the Sun on Lake Titicaca. He had built a temple there since the Incas creation story said the god Viracocha had crafted the Sun and Moon on the island. He'd also built a retreat there for himself so he could have peace from his many wives and 90 illegitimate children.
The shaman, who travelled freely, went to the island. He knew many of the families whose ancestors had lived there for thousands of years. One family's oldest son knew Tupac’s closest advisor.
The shaman used his powers of charismatic mesmerizing to persuade the advisor to let him meet with the Sapa Inca so he could reveal a spiritual miracle of great significance. Tupac was bored and told his advisor he would meet with this mysterious shaman.
The shaman connected with the Divine Inca in private and mesmerized him as well. Then he told him he was an emissary from Viracocha the Inca god who had returned as promised.
"This god wants to assist you in the same way he had helped the Sapa Inca who ruled two generations ago." (He had appeared in a vision to that Sapa Inca).
The shaman said in a slow, drawn out hypnotic voice, "Viracocha will help you make your Empire stronger ...and safe from an impending peril... which will destroy all your hard work ...of taking over the land and people of neighboring regions. If you listen to Viracocha... you will be known forever as a great, wise leader... who ruled when the empire was at its peak.
He also told the Sapa Inca, "I saw Viracocha appear from a cave ... near the shores of Lake Titicaca ...where he first created the world... He came with his only wife,... a beautiful and powerful goddess... from another realm which we have never heard of.... I am honored that he asked me to be his first follower."
"Sapa Inca!" he said stressing those words. "Miracles are occurring ...in the village... where I took Viracocha. ...Tupac Yupanqui, Sapa Inca ,,,you want to meet Viracocha, honour and respect him and take his advice.
"Yes,"... I want to meet this god, and take his advice." the entranced Tupac replied.

Mary Magdalene Lives is the proposed title for my 3rd book. Another metaphysical fantasy novel, this one explores the life of Mary Magdalene, a powerful, compelling woman who changes history as people get to know her story and teachings. This web page is set up as a blog so that you can follow the writing of this book as it unfolds.
